You could explain how you completed the assignment, for example, by describing the resources you used, the notes you made, any assignment plans you made or how you felt you cited the information correctly. We would recommend showing remorse for any alleged academic misconduct, and describing how you will take steps to avoid this in future.
If you were experiencing any Mitigating Circumstances during the assessment period, you should explain this. Explain the impact of these circumstances on you personally, and then explain the impact they had on your academic performance. If you did not complete a Mitigating Circumstances application form, you should provide credible and compelling reasons for this.
You should conclude your statement by explaining what outcome you’re hoping for. For example, you may accept the allegation, but feel the penalty is disproportionate to the offence so request an uncapped resubmission,
