Building meaningful bonds with your student cohort is important, connecting with others socially, physically and emotionally is a vital part of being human. University life allows you to build new friendships and relationships in an unfamiliar environment, by taking part and forming strong social bonds you will start to feel comfortable in your new environment.
Here are a few places you can start doing this:

Student groups - You can join a student group and meet like minded individuals, here you can find a list of all available societies and sports teams

Success coaches - You can become a success coach and mentor students in the year below, it is a good way to share your knowledge and meet new students.

Students' Union - We have two offices split across two campuses, you can come into our offices for a chat or even some tea and coffee.

Rocket bar - The rocket bar is the social hub of the university, you could pop by to grab a drink and enjoy a game of pool. There is also regular events which give you a great opportunity to network with your peers
This is Us student-led community
This is Us Community is a free, national and student-led community for Higher Education students in all years of study, including recent graduates.
This is a safe space for students to chat with others, share helpful information, arrange meet-ups, organise game-nights and much more!

Student Forums
Students also have the opportunity to join forums, these forums bring students who self-identify as one of the following groups together.
The forums are as follows:
BAME
BAME Stands for Black,Asian and Minority Ethnic.
London Met has a considerable number of students that come from a BAME Background, it is one of the most diverse institutions in the entire UK.
If you are a student that identifies as BAME, then you are able to join the BAME Forum. Please click here for more information
Disabled Students
There is various support available for students with a disability, the university has a dedicated team called Disabilities and Dyslexia Service (DDS) and the Students’ Union has a safe space available for students with a disability at both Aldgate and Holloway campus.

The Disabled Students Forum promotes the interests of the students who Identify as disabled, this includes those with learning difficulties, mental health issues or long-term illness. Please click here for more information on the forum.

Counselling
The university offers a dedicated counselling service to both students and staff, if you feel your mental health is deteriorating please contact them as soon as possible.

Disability and Dyslexia Service (DDS)
The DDS team offers advice, information and support to students who have have a disability, a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) such as Dyslexia or Dyspraxia, students who are deaf or hard of hearing, blind or partially sighted students, students with chronic long-term health conditions and students with mental health difficulties.
