Democracy Awards:
Only students are eligible for the awards in this category.
Student Council Member of the Year
The Student Council is the main representative body of the Students’ Union, which discusses and debates issues which are of interest or concerns to students. This award recognises a Student Council member who has gone above and beyond in their role to champion the needs of the students they represent.
Student Rep of the Year
Student Reps are students elected by their peers to represent the voice of students on that course. This award recognises a Student Rep has gone above and beyond in their role to develop and enhance the student experience, making improvements to their course or School.
Student Activities Awards:
Only students are eligible for the awards in this category.
Student Group of the Year
Student groups are an integral part of the London Met SU community and give students a fantastic opportunity to meet others with similar interests outside of the classroom. This award recognises the group that has stood out and made an exceptional contribution to the student community at London Met.
New Student Group of the Year
Every year, there are new groups that strengthen the diversity and opportunities of activities and opportunities available to students. This award celebrates the impact that new student groups have on the London Met community and their outstanding contribution to the lives of students in an engaging, meaningful, and innovative way.
Verve Media Member of the Year
Verve Media contributors range from presenters, writers, photographers, editors and various students who help behind the scenes to run our media outlets. This award recognises a student who has gone above and beyond in their role as a Verve Media member.
Student Group Leader of the Year
Student groups are all supported or established by dedicated students who take on lead roles for their student group, such as a President, Secretary, Treasurer or other specific roles. This award recognises a student group leader who has gone above and beyond in their role to support their student group.
Best Student Group Event of the Year
All activities and events that student groups deliver are exclusively led by our students here at London Met. This award recognises the student group event that has gone the extra mile to ensure students and its members have unique experiences and meaningful memories to take with them during and post-education.
Students’ Union Awards:
Both students and staff members are eligible for the awards in this category.
Student Partnership Award
This award is to recognise the best student and staff collaborative project across the year that has been created in line with the values and principles of the Student Partnership Agreement.
Community Volunteer of the Year
London Met’s volunteering team (Careers and Employability) offer London Met students the chance to gain valuable experience in community-based organisations, which can give their CV a strong boost. Nominating a volunteer is a way of saying a very special thank you to a student volunteer who deserve special recognition for their contribution to society.
Outstanding contribution to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award
Equality, diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are at the heart of London Met. This award is to recognise someone who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the promotion of EDI.
Unsung Hero Award
Unsung heroes are those people who keep the University running, who quietly work in the background to get things done and who don't necessarily get the recognition they deserve. This award recognises someone who has been a true hero.
Outstanding Contribution to the Students’ Union
This award is for an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the Students’ Union. This can be in any one of a number of ways, including as a Student Rep, Student Group member, Verve Media contributor, through the Student Council, Students’ Union Trustee Board, as a student staff member or any other significant contribution to the Students' Union.
Academic and Professional Services Awards:
Outstanding Academic Member of Staff
Only members of academic staff are eligble for these awards
This award offers students the opportunity to give recognition to outstanding Lecturers, Course Leaders, Personal Academic Tutors (PATs), and other academic staff from across the University. There is an award for each School:
- Outstanding Academic Member of Staff (School of Art, Architecture and Design)
- Outstanding Academic Member of Staff (Guildhall School of Business and Law)
- Outstanding Academic Member of Staff (School of Computing and Digital Media)
- Outstanding Academic Member of Staff (School of Human Sciences)
- Outstanding Academic Member of Staff (School of Social Sciences and Professions)
- Outstanding Academic Member of Staff (School of the Built Environment)
Academic Mentor of the Year
Only staff who are Academic Mentors are eligble for this award
This award is to recognise an Academic Mentor who has gone above and beyond to support their students to progress in their studies
Tutee (Student) of the Year Award
Only students who have engaged with the Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) scheme are eligible for this award
This award is for a Tutee (student) who has used the PAT scheme/support system and has progressed in their studies by accessing the support offered by the scheme
Outstanding Member of Professional Services Staff (non-academic)
Only members of Professional Services staff (non-academic) are eligible for this award
This award is for a member of support staff who has gone above and beyond to improve the experience of students at London Met. Examples of support staff include those working in Student Services, Admissions, the Sport, Fitness and Wellbeing team, Careers and Employability, the International Student Support team, Security, Estates, Catering Outlets, School Offices etc (i.e. any area that is non-academic).
