Hi !
My name is Jhenniqua, I’m a first year studying Graphic Design.
I am British born, black Caribbean woman, and I am standing for a seat on Student Council and NUS.
I am kind, helpful and most importantly, a friend :)
My hobbies and interests are drawing, watching TV and eating food (preferably at the same time) and clothes !
I’ve been going to a Christian Youth Group for years now and also partook in a young leaders role. I had volunteered at a charity shop a couple of summers ago and was a Prefect in Secondary School.
I am now a Student Rep for my course.
I am passionate about what I study and what makes me tick is everything creative.
My values and principles are pretty simple,
be nice to people and respect one another !
My priorities for if I get elected is to help make London Met students heard and to make sure their needs as students are met. As a student Rep for my course I have been fighting for students who haven't been satisfied with teaching, as well as being there for them, especially during this difficult time.
I am determined to do the same for Student Council and NUS !
I would also like to make a safe space for black women.
As a black girl, little, everyday encounters and situations can be, well, unexpected, sometimes uncalled for. I want a safe space for other black women to feel heard and valued and to be related to.
I want to steer away from the fetishized and “strong black woman” trope, uplift black women and make sure all black women are heard, including:
-LGBTQ+
-all religions
-Trans
-Ethnicity/ Bi-racial
-Class
-Disabled
-Employment (whatever job you have).
No one should get left out and it’s important to see diversity in minorities.
I want to achieve this by simply holding time to talk :)
