"Let's make LondonMet Awesome"

Hi friend, my name is Awesome Olasope. I have strong communication skills, positive attitude, and passion for assisting people. My leadership roles, including President of the Editorial Community, course rep, student council member have acquainted me with student concerns.

It would be a privilege to continue serving and representing the interests of our diverse student body. In my first six months in office, some of my achievements include negotiating with the university's SLT to procure LondonMet hoodies, a project that not only generated income for the student union but also fostered a sense of belonging among students. Additionally, I organised and co-organised various events, such as Afrobeats party, Halloween, welcome parties, trips to Winter Wonderland, Diwali celebrations, and more. I have actively participated in several committee meetings representing the interests of the student body.

In this manifesto, I articulate my continued vision and my commitment to working together with you to achieve it.

1. Home Away From Home Campaign:
- This will ensure that all students feel supported and valued, regardless of their backgrounds.
- Promote initiatives that facilitate integration and cultural exchange, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
- Collaborate with student societies to organise events, and activities that celebrate diversity and foster a sense of community.

2. More Employment Opportunities:
- Develop internship programs, work placements, and part-time job opportunities that align with students' academic interests and career goals with the employability team.
- Organise career fairs, workshops, and networking events to enhance students' employability skills and provide them with the tools needed for success in their chosen fields.

3 Student Representation:
- Advocate for increased student representation at all governance levels and collaborate with societies   and academic departments for effective representation.

4 Community Engagement:
- Promote student involvement in diverse campaigns focusing on mental health, well-being, sexual health awareness, and Academic Development initiatives.
-Organise events that promote cultural and social awareness, fostering a sense of empathy and social responsibility among our students.

5. Instalment Fees for International Students:
I will work towards establishing a flexible instalment payment system for international students. This would ensure that tuition fees are spread across manageable instalments, providing financial relief for students amidst the high cost of living in London.

We will continue to build a student union that is responsive, inclusive, and supportive of our students' needs and together we can make London Met Awesome!
