NURUZZAMAN

Your Voice, Your Choice

Hello, my London Met fellows!

I'm Nuruzzaman, pursuing an MSc in International Business Management and working as a student ambassador. Today, I'm honored to stand for Vice President (VP) of Welfare and Equity. With a deep-rooted passion for equality and a commitment to empowering every voice, I'm eager to serve you in this capacity.

Why Vice President Welfare and Equity?

I'm driven by a profound belief in creating a community where every student feels valued and supported. As your full-time VP, I will prioritize listening to and working collaboratively with students from marginalized groups to address their daily challenges at London Met. I aim to foster an environment where all students are empowered, heard, and respected.

My Top Priorities:

  1. **Workshop Initiatives**: Introducing workshops on Consent, Public Sexual Harassment, Active Bystander Intervention, and Gender Inclusivity for sports teams and societies, promoting inclusivity for all marginalized groups.
  2. **Community Engagement**: Establishing regular coffee mornings as safe spaces for students from marginalized groups to connect, share concerns, and support each other.
  3. **Advocacy for Change**: Advocate for institutional changes, including urging the Vice-Chancellor to sign a pledge against the use of Non-disclosure agreements in cases of sexual violence, and working towards a more supportive environment for survivors.
  4. **Mental Health Support**: Increasing the number of drop-in sessions and awareness among mass students to provide support for mental health, sexual health, and gender-based violence/discrimination.

Why Vote for Me?

  1. **Experience**: As an active participant in community organizing initiatives and a passionate advocate for equality and welfare, I bring valuable experience to this role. I worked as a General Secretary for a year at Student Council in my high school.
  2. **Commitment**: I am deeply committed to addressing the needs of marginalized groups and fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued.
  1. **Empowerment**: I believe in empowering individuals to voice their concerns and working collaboratively towards meaningful change.

Your vote for Nuruzzaman is a vote for equality, empowerment, and positive change. Let’s vote from Monday 4th March at 09:00 am to Friday 8th March at 12:00 pm  at https://www.londonmetsu.org.uk/elections/
