Step Forward with Stephii

My name’s Stephanie and I am campaigning to be a member of the new Student Council. As a 1st year psychology student my goal is to help make the world a better place for as many people as possible and through working with LMSU I hope to get closer to achieving my goal on a grander scale. Having lived quite a full life in my time on this planet so far, I’ve been blessed to have experienced multiple different opportunities that I believe will be useful as a member of the Student Council. As an international beauty queen, I’m experienced both in public speaking as well as diplomacy and creating connections between people. My volunteer work with children has given me lived experience as a leader as well as working with those older and younger than myself.  Through my work in finance I’ve been successful in strengthening my empathetic nature as well as  my problem solving skills - these are just a few skills I’ve been able to hone that will help me in my endeavours to support and represent the student body while on the council.

In terms of causes I plan to:

  • Create a fair environment for all clubs/societies to receive adequate advertisement in order to gain and retain members.

  • Liaise with professors to try and improve time table scheduling as well as adequate classrooms for as many students as possible.

  • Liaise with those in higher positions to create a cheaper lunch alternative in the highbury canteen to help students during this cost of living crisis.

  • Promote cross campus cohesion so that whether a member of the Holloway Road campus or the Aldgate campus, students can feel connected and united as part of the London Metropolitan student body.

As an approachable member of the council, I’ll be on hand to listen to any concerns fellow students may have and I will do my best to bring the matter to the attention of my fellow council members. Voting will run from Monday 4th March through to Friday 8th March and can be done via the polling stations at both campuses or online. When voting, candidates are ranked so please remember to select delegate Stephanie Balogun as your #1 choice for Student Council so that you too can Step Forward with Stephii.

Thank you for taking the time to read my manifesto - I look forward to serving you well.
