Student Council is the main representative body of the Students’ Union and is made up of students who are elected by their peers to represent different groups of students from across the University. Student Council discusses and debates issues which are of interest or concern to students. It provides recommendations to the Trustees of the Students’ Union, offers direction and holds the Students' Union Executive (Full and Part-time Officers) to account. Student Council members also have the opportunity to be elected as Chair or Deputy Chair of Student Council.
Being a Student Council member provides an opportunity to help steer the direction of the Students’ Union, ensure that your elected representatives are acting in the best interests of students and within the boundaries of LMSU’s democratic processes and to influence positive change to the student experience of your peers. Being a Student Council member also provides a huge opportunity to improve your confidence and gain a unique experience and invaluable skills that will really make your CV stand out.
