We would like to send our support and stand in solidarity with everyone at London Met and in the wider community who is being impacted by the riots and violence across the UK right now. These acts of ignorance and hatred do not reflect the real London, or the real Britain and at LMSU we are committed to standing up for inclusion, equality, diversity and kindness across our whole community.

Safety & Support
Your safety is most important, so please do take steps to look after yourself and others around you. The University is working closely with the local police and Islington Council and they have confirmed that there is no protest or other action planned to occur in Islington. If you feel unsafe on campus, please contact Security on 020 7320 3333. If you are off campus and feel unsafe and are unable to leave a situation safely, you should call the police on 999 immediately.
Spreading hate is a crime in the UK, and if you witness or are a victim of racist, Islamophobic, sexist or any other type of hateful incident you can report it directly to the police here.
We know that there is a lot of false information and hatred circulating on social media. Keeping yourself safe online is also important. Only use trusted news outlets for your information, and don't believe everything you see or read online. Don't share content that includes hateful or violent messages even if it is to condemn it. Limit your time online reading about the news.
You can find more information about student safety here.
If you are concerned or worried about what is currently happening in the UK please seek support. The University and the Students' Union are here for you. You can access the University Counselling service or download and use the TalkCampus app - for instant support, any time, day or night.
Action the SU is taking
We are working closely with the University to ensure that our London Met community is supported and safe. We have spoken with the Vice Chancellor, Julie Hall, and we will continue to stay in regular communications with the University team as events develop.
We are supporting the NUS petition Against Far-Right Violence and encourage all students at London Met to stand in solidarity with those affected. The more who sign, the louder NUS voice is to speak on behalf of students to sign it with us.
LMSU stands against any kind of violence and hatred, and we strive to always be by your side. If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to let us know.
In love, solidarity and kindness,
Your SU Officer Team,
Awesome Olasope, President
Fahmida Yesmin, Vice President Education
Nahid Binta Islam, Vice President Activities & Opportunities
Mojahar Ali, Vice President Equity & Welfare
